Garage Door Questions From Hanford Homeowners
Answers on what Hanford Garage Door Pros repairs, who's on the truck, and what jobs we pass on. Serving Hanford and nearby towns like Armona and Lemoore.
Do you come out to Armona or Lemoore, or just Hanford?
Yes, we cover both. Armona is about 3 miles from our shop and Lemoore is around 8, along with Laton, Traver, Goshen, Riverdale, Kingsburg, Lemoore Station, Waukena, Selma, Corcoran, Caruthers, and Tulare, which runs about 20 miles out. Call and tell us where you are and we'll confirm the trip.
My spring broke - is that something you fix same day?
A broken torsion or extension spring is one of the most common calls we get, especially with how many houses around here still run original hardware from the 1974-2003 build era. We handle spring replacement regularly. Call the number and describe what happened; we'll tell you what's involved before anyone drives out.
Why does my opener seem to struggle more in summer?
Heat here runs severe, and that affects lubricant on rollers, hinge pins, and track - grease thins out and gums up, which makes the opener strain to pull a door that should move easily. If your opener sounds like it's working harder than it used to, that's usually a hardware problem, not a motor problem.
Do you install new garage doors or just repair them?
Both. If a repair on an older door isn't worth the cost anymore - which happens more with houses on the older end of our 1974-2003 service window - we'll walk you through replacement options instead of patching something that's going to fail again soon.
Do you work on commercial roll-up doors?
No. Our work is residential garage doors and openers. Commercial roll-up and industrial doors use different hardware and different codes, and that's outside what we take on. If that's what you need, we'll tell you straight rather than take the job.

What We Actually Do
We work on the doors themselves and the hardware that moves them: torsion and extension springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, and openers. Most of the houses we get called to in this area were built between 1974 and 2003, so a lot of what we see is original hardware from that stretch - steel sectional doors on torsion springs that were never rated for the summers here. Our service area covers Hanford and the smaller towns around it, including Armona (3 miles out), Laton, Lemoore, Traver, Goshen, Riverdale, Kingsburg, Lemoore Station, Waukena, Selma, Corcoran, Caruthers, and Tulare. Distances range from 3 miles up to 20, and that spread matters for scheduling - a same-day call in Armona is a different logistics problem than one out past Tulare. Because summer heat here runs severe, we spend a fair share of calls on doors where heat-cycled lubricant has gummed up rollers and hinges, or where a spring lost tension faster than it should have. We also handle full door replacement and opener swaps when repair doesn't make sense anymore. If it's a garage door or the motor that runs it, it's within what we do.

What We Do Not Take On
We don't do gate systems, fence gates, or commercial roll-up doors that run on industrial-grade hardware different from residential setups - that's a separate trade with different parts and different code requirements. We also don't take on structural framing work; if the header above your door is sagging or rotted, that's a carpenter's job before it's a garage door job, and we'll say so rather than bolt new hardware to a bad frame. On very old doors - some of the housing stock predates our 1974-2003 build window - parts can be hard enough to source that replacement is the honest answer instead of repair. We'll always tell you when fixing costs more sense than it saves.
